Using large-scale digital traces—from mobile phone data, IoT and IoB sensors, and social platforms—the Center explores how people move through social, physical, and online spaces, adapt to changing environments, and develop habitual behaviors. These insights help reveal how individual decisions aggregate into broader social patterns, with implications for social dynamics, political, economic, and productive systems, urban planning, transportation systems, and behavioral interventions.

The Center studies how collective behavior and action emerge from interactions among individuals, particularly in contexts such as political participation, cultural evolution, and online communities. By using generative AI and deep learning models, as well as complex systems, network analysis, agent-based modeling, and behavioral data, the Center examines the mechanisms that drive consensus, polarization, cooperation, and the spread of information in society, with a particular focus on the increasing role of generative AI in shaping these processes.

Using quantitative and computational methods, the Center investigates how social inequalities are produced and reproduced across different populations, and how labor markets and welfare systems respond to technological, demographic, and policy changes. Special attention is paid to demographic behaviour, including household formation, fertility, and population ageing. This research informs evidence-based strategies for promoting social equity and inclusive development.

Through computational modeling, real-time data analysis, and simulations, the Center studies how health dynamics unfold in society, especially in response to pandemics, vaccination campaigns, and behavioral risk factors. Furthermore, the C2S2 investigates the potential role of AI in addressing pandemic preparedness, infectious disease modeling, and public health interventions, as well as in simulating population dynamics and human behaviors. This work supports public health decision-making and aims to enhance societal resilience through proactive and data-driven strategies.
